Hello and welcome to my last newsletter of the 2025. As ever, this year has been very full on but very productive as well. Thank you to everyone who visited my shows at the Crypt Gallery in May, my SEOS open house in June and Gallery UNO in Nov. It is always lovely to meet you and I do appreciate your support.

My biggest news of the year was joining the Chalk Gallery in Lewes. For those of you who are not local, the Chalk Gallery is a well respected, contemporary gallery located in the country town of Lewes in Sussex. It’s an artist-run gallery offering affordable and original fine art. The Chalk had been on my radar for a while and I finally picked up the courage to apply in August. It was a nerve wracking process. First of all, my application photos of my paintings were sent to all 14 members and they voted ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Luckily I got through this part which was a huge relief. I then had to attend an artist interview with 3 of the members, bringing my paintings into the gallery. Luckily, this went well and I was offered a place. I started showing my work there in September. Having my work in a gallery is a huge step for me. It means my paintings are on view all year round. The display is changed every 2 months with new work from all the artists. I steward in the gallery 2 days a month which gives a great opportunity to meet new people. We currently have our Christmas show on, so if you are visiting Lewes do pop in. The gallery shows paintings, prints, ceramics, glass and textile work from all local artists. We’re open all week from 11am to 4pm with Christmas Eve being our last day open for this year.

Seascapes continue to be one of my most popular creations — and for good reason. There’s something endlessly uplifting about big skies filled with fluffy clouds, shimmering blue seas, and golden beaches stretching into the horizon. They’re a joy to paint, and an even greater joy to share.
This July, I launched a brand-new workshop teaching you how to create your own contemporary seascape using fluid art techniques. The beauty of this process is its simplicity: you don’t need any prior painting experience — the paint does the magic for you! I’ve been thrilled with the response so far. Students have created some truly stunning pieces, and it’s been wonderful to see everyone’s unique interpretation of the sea.
“I really enjoyed the seascape workshop with Chris. It was a great way to switch off from the outside world and produce something lovely. Chris was welcoming, gave a brilliant demonstration and was on hand to guide us whilst letting us produce our own work. I have no painting experience but the seascape was completely achievable and relaxing to do. I may well be back to do another!” Rachel Faulks - 9/08/25 - Seascape Workshop
I’ll be running this half-day workshop again next year. If you’d like to join in, you can find full details on my website. And if you’re looking for the perfect gift for a creative friend or family member, Gift Vouchers for all of my courses are available and valid for a full year.

My work is continuing to develop and hopefully grow. I’m still obsessed with lines and landscapes. The skies are proving so distracting at the moment. You do have to give it up for autumn, fantastic skies with clouds chasing, fading grasses and fabulous oranges appearing in the landscape. I’m currently working on a body of work for a two week show next year in May and it will be heavily influenced by these windswept scenes.
Do check out my current work on my website. If there is anything you would like to see in person, drop me a message and I can arrange for a studio visit.
That’s all for this year. I hope you have a fab Christmas and a great New Year.
Chris x
