I was blown away with how well our Fluid Art Retreat in Dorset went this year. We’ve had some amazing feedback and everyone had a great time.
I helped organise the first UK Fluid Art Event in 2023 in Gloucestershire with Julie Vatcher and Monique Oliver. This was a day event with over 30 attendees. Although the day went really well, we all felt it was very full on and there wasn’t enough time to get know everyone who came. Julie and myself decided that we wanted to have an event over a weekend where we could slow down the pace and really interact with people. This is where the idea of a retreat came from.
Julie is based in Dorset and she was able to locate a venue where people could stay and take part. A lot of work went into planning the retreat which started at the beginning of the year. We really wanted to create a community of people who are interested in fluid art. One of the key points of the retreat, was to ‘pour with intention’ and really think about colour and planning your work. We covered these topics in great detail.

The weekend started on the Friday afternoon with a meal and a ‘talk about your work’ session. A few people were nervous but it really helped to break the ice and bring the group together. Throughout the rest of the weekend, we had an inspirational walk along the beach and various workshops and demonstrations. A highlight of the weekend, was Julie’s in-depth marketing talk.
The feedback we had was truly wonderful, definitely making all the hard work worthwhile. We were so lucky to have a great group of people attend, making the weekend feel really special. There were lots of laughs, connections and creativity.
Plans are in the making for next years event. If you would like to register your interest, please follow this link:
