I will be opening up my house again and turning my lounge into an art gallery for this year's SEOS. I do love participating in this event. I've met some great people over the last two years and I'm looking forward to meeting more.
Hosting an open house is a lot of work. The garden needed a major spruce up and I'm having a constant battle with slugs. The lounge floor needed varnishing and I had new spotlights fitted to the ceiling. All the signage is up outside the house and it is looking very festive with all the bunting. Once the lounge is cleared and the art boards set up, hopefully everyone's work will look fab. It is worth all the effort. I love chatting to everyone who visits, it is a great way to connect with people. Along with my work, I will be hosting two other artists, Jan Beesley and Jayne Luscombe.
Jan Beesley is a fabulous abstract photographer. When I first saw Jan's work, I thought they were paintings not photographs. Jan is Sussex based artist using abstract and expressionist photography to capture her experiences, thoughts and feelings.
Jayne Luscombe designs and creates unique pieces using silver, enamel, a touch of gold and the occasional gemstone. Jayne loves to experiment with textures and finishes, resulting in a very wearable range of jewellery with abstract patterns and colours.
This year there will be two other venues open in my village. At Studio 24 will be John Forster showing his paintings and drawings. At Studio 25 will be Samantha Butcher with her paintings, Julie Knight's glass art and Patricia Buchanan's bespoke handbags.
Along with a fabulous range of paintings, prints, jewellery and greeting cards, I will also be selling tea and cake to raise money for charity. Do come for a visit, it is a lovely way to meet local artists, learning about their practices and work.
You will find us at STUDIO 26 from 11am-5pm
The address is Tarnhurst, Buxted, East Sussex TN22 4JW
